Just upgrading to a 400 ltr tank and would like some advice.
At present I have a 180 ltr tank with approx 8 snails(sold as turbos but not sure...they ate a upright conical shape),and about 10 hermits(mixture of types) aswell as a sand shifting starfish.
How many should I be looking for in the new tank and suggestions on which types please
Thanks
Nikki

How much algae do you have? on the stuff that will move over.
Do you or will you have a DSB?

I reckon you could triple what you have at the moment for the new tank. Not sure about the sand sifter though, thought they ate so much stuff that they need a large sand bed to keep them happy.

Thanks for the reply. My sand bed is only about 3/4-1 inch deep but the sand shifter seems to be doing fine:)
As for algae ...very little really,my little critters seem to be doing a good job.

I'd say start with double then (compared to the smaller tank), and adjust to how much algae you are getting, or if there is any detritus lying around.

Sounds like a good idea...thankyou.
What type of snails would you recommend?

It all depends on your own setup,

Snilas I recommend are true turbos - Not false turbos, True Nass - either tongan or vibex and Jumbo ceriths. Turbos Herbriovores, Ceriths omnivores and Nass Carnivores.
