I have a few mushies that hitch hiked into my tank on some small pieces of LR. I have 25x flow in my tank and the mushies are small in size and possible don't open fully. I am wondering if the flow is too strong for them? My lighting is 4x T5 and water quality is reasonable. Thanks

It depends what type of mushie they are. Although ime most mushies prefer lower flow. However, with regard to light there can be huge differences between species, some like bright direct light, others shade. If you could post a pic it would be helpful ;)

Hope this picture is of some use? :) Of interest the smallest mushroom on the piece of rock on the right fell or was knocked of the rock. I saw it on the sand so moved it into my sump to hopefully re-attach. Could this be due to them needed a different location?

Hi Tom,

Low down in tank, gentle/moderate flow IMO is best place for those mushies. IMO

I agree, its a bit hard to tell cause they're scrunched up but they look like a Discosoma sp. Better to start in low light. Mushies usually let go if they are not happy with their position or if there is just not enough room on the rock. In your case it is most likely because of the flow. Mushies also walk about which handily leaves little bits behind which grow into new mushies.

Thanks for the help, I will try moving them to a lower flow area.
