Hi
My original thread is here:
http://www.reefcorals.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=1251

It started off nice n clean then I had all sorts of algae/cyano woes. The pic above is as of Today, sorted out the brown cyano/diatoms/dinps (whatever it was) problem.

Tank is 48x18x24 with 20g(ish) sump and I like to keep the back clean, none of that purple stuff :)

Hi Col That looks super a big difference from last time i saw it, its nice when you get results like this after weeks of the horrible algae. You have the makings of a very nice tank there, TOTM here we come. :) Eric

Thanks for the compliments.

Yeah, it's great to finally (hopefully) have beat the blooms that can ruin a tank. At one point I didn't think it would ever go and my hands were never out of the tank.

Still got a touch of hair algae, but after the brown stuff it's nothing to concern me. I can look forward to developing the tank now, slowly of course.

I will post more pics soon.

The toady in the middle was stuffed away at the back for the best part of a year - what a waste huh?

I syphoned it off every other day, using fresh salt mix instead of using floss and re using the water. About 5 gal per session.

Reduced the lighting a fair bit

Reduced the feeding.

After this I've had a few small patches of red cyano and still got a bit of hair algae, but nothing to worry me.
