I used B&Q low odour colours everywhere on mine. Airforce Blue I think at the time. I've even painted a tank fully stocked with this stuff with no adverse effects.

I used the Oxford Blue on my old tank.
Tip. Be careful on edges to avoid contact with the silicon. Now I have heard scare stories of the silicon being effected by certain paints. I don't know whether this is true, but its not going to hurt to use a bit of masking tape.
For the sake of a couple of extra minutes.... :D

taken from an other thread-water based paint john the solvent based will affect the silicone, also in same thread states just use vynil silk.
You will find its solvent based paints that will effect the paint and water based will be fine,
Although avoid any splashing into the tank when painting one with water based paint when full as the additives in paint can and will wipe a tank out HTH :D,

HI
I used Plastikote on mine. You can get it in a spray form or in a pot. i used the pot as my tank was already in situ, put it on with a small gloss roller. Because it is acrylic based it is more resistant to drips etc and looks good. I used "harbour blue" which seems to be as close to LFS tanks as i could find.
Cheers

I used some lagoon blue stuff but really regret it. I should have just stuck a cut to size sheet of coloured perspex there. Bits have chipped away slightly & will make a mess to scrape off.
