Ca reactors can be problematic but they do add all the tings that the coral was made of!

Kalkwasser additions are great but you then have to test a supplement for strontium.

TMCs Biocalcium rockets the hardness up but doesn't add much Ca. Used in conjunction with liquid Calcium from Kent it can be very affective.

The SeaChem products are also very good.

I favour Kalk because it raises pH if it used correctly. Ca reactors drop pH and can cause CO2 retention and worse if run incorrectly.

Need Anymore??

Hey Corals4You

Calcium can be buffered pretty easy with all of the above methods. Kalk being my preferred choice, but all work well. Just make sure all your other parameters are at the right levels before you start buffering your calcium. This is because high levels of calcium can cause drops in KH very quickly, causing unnecessary problems.

If your calcium and KH are at the same levels e.g. calcium 380 and KH 7dkh your probably better of using two part additives or kalkwasser that buffer both kh and calcium.

What's you Parameters at the moment?

Hope this help :) .

Are you checking your calcium levels?

It could be that regular water changes will provide you with enough Ca :)
