Hi Folks - joined a few weeks ago but this'll be my first posting.
I've finally got chance to set up my tank again after tearing it down a couple of years ago beacuse of moving house and one thing and another.

Decided I'd upgrade my skimmer and after browsing the forums got a Deltec MCE300 to replace my older (v noisy) Prizm hang-on.

It arrived yesterday and I intend to use it as a hang-on, but looks like the inlet and outlet pipes are too long (horizontally in towards the centre of the tank) and will catch on the lighting case. The intstructions mention you can reduce the inlet pipe but nothing about cutting down the outlet. Doesn't look like it would be an issue but I wanted to see if anyone had done the same before I start hacking away ?

Hi, and a very warm welcome to Reef Corals ;)

I cut down both pipes on my MCE600 with no ill effects (for the same reason in fact). I can't see it being any different with the MCE300.

Callum did this to get his to fit. Might be worth asking him to see how he did it.

Thanks for the response - I also found an email address on the deltec site and they came back saying it shouldn't be a problem.

hi as mr tee said i had to do the same thing i use a saw and some sand paper to give it a smooth finish. just make sure u clean the pipes to remove all bits of plastic.

theres no side effects and the skimmer is great u will see a huge diffrence.
