Fotm

Wondering why we have had no fotm / cotm for august? We were asked to support the monthly events and to help encourage participation and yet when we do post our pictures nothing Appears. Totm seems to go ok so is it time to pack the rest in

I have encouraged and encouraged and still only 2 pictures where posed for the last two months July and August for FOTM.

I thought about changing it to picture of the month then at least then there would be a few pictures to choose from so I did a poll on here and the majority voted to keep the separate categorises.

I stand down as Co-ordinator as I have taken a lot of time cutting and coping peoples pictures up over the months and every month I just get moaned at by someone and when I do put loads of pictures up people don't even bother voting lol.

i can understand your frustration as i do the exact same job on a even smaller site, however regular bumps and posts can give members a kick up the backside, i appreciate the work you input and hope you re-consider your decision to quit.fwiw i think you do a great job :)

well it shouldn't be the case kev, we have 1700 members, 100 are on every day, and 200 guests visit and read our site and threads, perhaps a large banner to encourage guests to join up is a good idea, and the 100 members who visit daily need to participate, i don't post as much as i should tbh, but i think the problem is the site needs rookies\new to the hobby members, this would get the site moving a bit, as we slightly more experienced reefers can post replies to their questions,anyhow i think personally it should be fish of the month and invert of the month, and invert should be for corals as well as crabs and snails etc, i actually posted up a picture myself last month but it has not appeared in any poll.

its a tough job running a site, i know i do, and this site is bigger than the one i run by a mile, a large welcome and register here banner can help member numbers, more members more photos for the comps.

Timo reconsider mate I for one enjoy your comp and always vote as I know you do on mine,
I agree with the part people complain then don't bother voting thing but if we give in then it's us that can't be bothered;),
At the moment I was thinking of doing TOTM Bimonthly and wondered if that would work for you as well give it some thought mate as said you do a good job:clap:,

It is slow though, it may have in excess of 1700 members, but the post rate on some days is sloooooooooow. I think with 1700 members it should be racing. But thats just my opinion.

one other thing i didn't mention was the summer months are quiet really, from april to september folk go out more and spend less time indoors posting like they do during the winter months.

well not sure about that. Each evening I get home from work and I log onto another forum that I am not allowed to mention for some odd reason. Less than 300 members (but growing) and its got more new posts each evening than this forum, or thats my perception.
