I would like to offer up a ' cube ' as a prize or fund raiser, if anyone has any ideas of charities they wish the money to goto, please post here for agreement and also i'm looking for any other sponsors who may wish to chip in and donate suitable equipment, food, vouchers livestock etc to go with the cube cabinet, tank and sump i'm willing to put forward.

Thanks Clown :) I would really like this to be a 'forum' team effort, so please anyone with suggestions on what the competition could be i.e a complete the slogan " I'd like acube in my home because..." or maybe.." I love keeping marines because..." or maybe simply a raffle or draw. Please let us know. I would also appreciate the other sponsors chipping in to see how big we could all make this prize, i'm sure it could end up being a prize that would be a dream for anyone to own.

Now there's a good idea, a great way to promote the forum and the sponsors:goodjob:
The slogan competition is a good idea also, I like the "I'd like a cube in my home" one:D

very good offer and idea. Personally though I hate cheesy slogan competitions and feel it would put a lot of people off entering. a Raffle would probably be best. Give it at least a month or two out there in the open too to allow people to buy tickets. sponsors could advertise it in their shops too.
How about donating to something fish/reef related? Like Corals for conservation or Reefcheck?

Raffle is certainly a way to guarantee you get a nice sum for the charity.
Most peeps will be happy donating say £10 and be given a number.
Say the goal is to reach £500
then you can offer 50 numbers at £10
Then once every one has their number you can set a date for the bonus ball in the lottery wins the prize on that set date.
If you sell more than 50 tickets then this would need to be re-thought but you get a fair draw this way.
I have contacted H4H expressing that we wish to raise some money for them and asked if they can send any information to me to make it official and how to go about forwarded any monies to the charity once the raffle has been completed.

Thats great cheers cav :)
I just spoke to Paul at Fit Fltration and he is more than happy to donate the tank, sump and pipework for the prize, many people have heard of pauls systems and those that have and do own them know his reputation is justified and well deserved. This is looking like a seriously fantastic prize being put together by the sponsors and moderators, so please get involved, spread the word and contribute if you can.
I think to give enough time for people to put forward their suggestions and for sponsors to contribute, this event should run for at least 3 months, but please give us your views. :)

How about splitting the money raised between the two most suggested charities? its hard to choose between charities and i personally think both suggestions so far are excellent and deserving ones.

Thats a good idea, it's too difficult to decide which charity is more deserving than others IMO. However this being a reef forum, maybe the charitites should be more marine oriented? This is where Cav will remind everyone of the royal marines I guess;)

Just to re-cap on what Nick from ACS has put forward.
The cube tank, sump, weir and pipe work will be supplied by Fit Filtration to help promote the New Freedom Cube range of systems. This new product range designed by Fit Filtration is aimed for the end user to add there own pumps, lighting, and skimmer. The Freedom Cube is new to the market place and only just ready for launch using both Fit Filtration and ACS Products, so we are offering a premium product package to some lucky winner.
Nick from ACS I believe is in discusions with a supplier to supply possible lighting and other equipment to finish off the system. Any other sponsors are welcome to come forward to help donate the pumps, skimmers if they wish. This will hopefully be a full compete system for some lucky winner with the helpful donations going to the suggested charity.
I believe the competition will run for a few months to raise as much money as possible for charity.

I personally also think that if the winning person has a tank already and sells there's then they should donate some of that cash also,i know i will if win :D:D

Thats awesome cav, thanks for putting the effort to make some progress and your kind offer to help organise publicising the fund raiser. How about we leave it a month to see if anyone has any suggestions for charities and then see which are the top two supported ones? :goodjob:

So just to re-cap... so far we have an ACS cube, complete with a FitFiltration tank, sump and piping, a £75 CUC donation from macca and offers for assistance from cav and clown. I'm also waiting for confirmation for an LED array from a certain company just about to launch a new model that works great with the cube, which I expect to get in the next few days. The proposed charities so far are cancer research, help the heroes and reef conservation.
Any other sponsors willing to put in heaters, live rock, skimmer, pump, UV, livestock, food , vouchers etc?... and we could have a really nice ' full ' system up for grabs. Worth well over a £1000 I would have thought.:goodjob:

That's a fantastic idea Mick, I personally wouldn't mind donating a cube cabinet each year towards the fundraising event and I think its awesome for you to offer the donation you have. If we can get more donations from the forum we could really make this prize anybody would be very happy to have in their home for christmas. :goodjob:
