Hi guys i have decided to step down as Reef Meet organiser as i find its like flogging a dead horse. The last few meets hardly anyones turned up even though they say they will come on here they still never come, so i have decided to hand it over to someone else and see if they can drum up some response. I will continue until we get some one else so hurry up and get your name down. Twiggy:D

Sorry to hear this Eric.
I have missed the last few as they have been while I am at work but feel it may be part of the times mate. People are not visiting LFS much at the minute due to lack of extra cash.
Keep it up mate. I am sure things will get better.

I would think that your best bet Eric is to increase the time between Reef Meets for now say there are 4 sponsors who hold meets then instead of doing one every month or two increase the time between to 3 months then people like me can save up as most people feel bad if they go to a reef meet and can't buy anything :o
Also times are rally hard at the moment and people do not have as much "disposable" income to spend on luxuries which in my house new corals/fish are a luxury at the minute
I remember the first meet I went to at Reef Ranch there were loads of us there it is just a sign of the current climate :frown::frown:

I agree less would be better for me because I could make the odd one every 3 months but not one every month.

Hi Caroline i know what you mean, and i know moneys tight but your not going to buy you go for the meet with other members who you have not seen for a while and have a good old natter, and if there is something that catches your eye and you can afford it buy it if not wait until you can afford it. I find it very frustrating when i put up a date for a Meet and loads of folk say oh i will be there then Derek and Ken who have to travel over 100 miles to get to mine turn up and theres hardly anyone there. The meet we had at Complete Marines was typical there was only us 3 and about 3 others that turned up which made me embarrassed for asking them to host a meet. Twiggy:D

think one every 4 weeks is far too much. Its ok if you dont have a busy schedule but its far too much if you do. I would make more of an effort if it was every 3 months as caroline has said.

OK then it will be every 3 months from now on so instead of the next meet being in end of August it will be end of November. So lets see if you all hold to your word and turn up for it if not i am done with organising it someone else can do it. Twiggy:D:D

end of November might not be a good time as its the deep meet begin of November.

or maybe it's the forums loss. another member gone. Messages about lack of reef meet activity, lack of forum posts resulting in an email asking where people are etc..
no idea what happened as the posts have been deleted and I was busy working for a change :D not taking sides at all but I have personally had dealings with Phil and he's a top bloke, be a shame to lose another member to some unfortunate grievance. :frown:

i think all comments regarding the site should be posted in the suggestions and feedback forum, providing theres no foul language then leave the comments up for debate, and if there is bad language then only those bits should be just erased, and sensibly and not with the sausage thing which is a little silly, its all very well commenting on the situation but if he isnt going to tell us whats wrong then its pointless really discussing it, how a discussion about a reef meet and members not attending can end up like this bemuses me, i thought we were all here to discuss reef aquaria and any problems we incur, sometimes even though members leave it can benefit the site, i dont like swearing, theres no need for it imo, even if frustrated.

Delete the message and ask him what the problem is maybe? dunno.. something has obviously sparked it. give him a "holiday" with a chance of explaining why he's so p'd off. Just an idea.
Hey maybe we should have a forum shrink? :) Put your feet up on that couch and tell me whats stressing you.. :)

regarding the meets i agree that if you say you are going its only polite to attend as eric does do his best to get the meets going. From a personal point of view i dont attend many due to time but if i say i am going i do turn up.
Weekends are my time to spend with family and if theres a footy match that gives me less time with them as well so cant make many.

I would love to attend a reef meet , even though I live in Manchester. My problem is I have to work most Saturdays. I drove toYork with my brother the other month to call at Ocean corals , but it never opened ( Weds afternoon). So if I get the chance I will attend a meet.

Well if your busy Saturday we can have them on a Sunday so you can attend as we have them at Fishworld in Oldham. Twiggy:D
