[Gizmo]

I have a large leather for my clowns to host. All has been well for several months but this has now started to happen.

I know these things can alter their shape and stuff but this seems a bit severe. It's literally like a big hole appearing that is expanding all the way through it. Should I be concerned about disease or parasites or could it be something else?

Looks like it may be splitting into two to me, I maybe wrong though.. Have you checked it for anything that should not be there?

No idea what causes this but if it's the same as mine then it is nothing to worry about. First time I thought it was a form of rot and syringed the area regularly, with it taking a number of days before it opened again properly, but it cleared up and was bigger and better when it did. Next time I thought it was trying to divide as it developed a deep 'cut' in to the centre but again seemed to stop. Has now done it several time, each time it re opens properly after it is even bigger. It is now about 12"+ across and getting out of hand but is very impressive wavy shape :) Interestingly none of the other leathers have ever done this and division seems to be from small ones forming at the base!

Thanks for the answers, will keep an eye on it. I just don't want it to get really raggy now that I've got my clowns to take to it.
