Not sure on this one but how many can you have in one tank? I have a pair of common clowns and wondered if any more could be added?

Ime if you have a mahoosive tank then more than 1 pair could work. However, if you have a regular sized tank and already have an established pair i think it would be all out war.:D

I must be very lucky then as i have mixed clowns a few time and never had any fighting at all....... One pair was in the tank 3 years b4 the second pair was added. But i stayed well clear of maroons as i think they would fight!!

Perc clowns are p-u-s-s-e-y cats compared to Maroons or Tomato's, you will be ok with percs but not Maroons. Twiggy:D

I have a pair of breeding regular orange and white ocellaris. I'm planning on adding a pair of black and white percs or ocellaris. Here's a tip for gauging potential problems, Find a pic of the clowns you want to add from the net and print it off. blue tac it to the side of the tank and see if your clowns attack or investigate.

so far mine have kept a close eye on the intruder but kept themselves to themselves and not attacked even when the clown cut-out is placed within 3" from their home. I've been moving it around the tank sporadically and also tried the blu-tac to a straw and wave it around a bit to simulate swimming but had no attack response. In fact when I showed agression with the cut-out clown my female vanished into her coral. Leaves me thinking it's got to be worth a shot with adding a pair of small juveniles. I'm going to try introduce them at the other side of the tank too in the vain hope they'll stay at that side as my clowns never move more than 8" from their home coral.

maroons and tomatoes are p-u-s-s-e-y cats compared to clarkis :p

each have their own personality, i have a very loving pair of maroons that you can hand feed, the pair before them would draw blood.

I think if you tried to add another pair or even a single they wouldn't be so loving.:D

The Clarkii's I had in my old fish house were both as big as your fist (biggest clowns i've ever seen) and were scared to death of you. :)

like you say it's all down to the personality of each particular fish.

My loving pair of maroons :p used to share a nem with a pair of pink skunks. Now I agree if the pink skunks were clarkis, tomatoes or another pair of maroons then world war 3 would breal out. But you can mix clownfish if done carefully.

For example I have pairs of saddlebacks (£15 anyone :p) that a clarki (£7.50 anyone :p) jumped in beside and were happy living together. But if another saddleback jumped it it would have been a certain death.

in my first tank I even had a large female common clown that I was scared to death putting my hand into the tank. I would have to put a net in and then it was not so brave. Without the net the sausagesausagesausagesausagesausagesausage would bite and bite hard!

My female clown used to be like that but she's mellowed in her old age :D that's why I thought it best to try the clownfish on a stick thing first to see if she'll attack. Hopefully the new clowns will be ok. Otherwise i'll have to seperate them and decide which ones to move on.

those saddlebacks are a good price!.. got my mind set on some black and white percs tho.

Ray they look identical to black percs. :D:D I think I may even sell as black percs  as the saddle does not even look like one, more of a stripe.

Did you get your wee frag?

Funny you should say that james as my female common goes for me when i put my hand in and she does bite! She is very protective of there favoured rock and will go for any fish that gets too close, so does this mean she would be agressive towards another clown?
I have in the past down the mirror trick on the side of the tank and the clowns have never been bothered, might be worth a try, worst comes to worst move a pair on?
