Hi all looking for a small tank and hood about 24 x 15 x15 ish to be used as as a quarantine tank and a hospital tank pref not far from middlesbrough.. thanx This is a repeat from the other section as I placed it in the wrong place
Good move m8, you should be able to set up a quarantine tank with everything you need for the price of a flame angel.
Good luck finding the tank!

Hi Darren
I am no expert on marine fish disease, they are very difficult to id at the best of time let alone over a forum such as this.
The qt tank may not stop this happening again! You may cure the fish through qt but you could be playing leap frog from your main system to the qt tank.
Any chance of some system details so some of the guys on here can give you some advice? What are you keeping / stock levels. Size of system? Parameters?
You may well have your fish in and out of qt because you are not resolving the actual problem? Qt may help, but its not necesarily a permanent cure.

Kev, have a read at ZEUS threads, he is our expert on marine diseases and see what he says regarding quarantine.
Its a must! In his opinion and certainly mine.
Or there is wombats on the dark side.
If we quarantined everyone that left mexico then we would not have the same issues regarding swine flu. :D
Yes its a pain, but its true.
Hi
Having read back through Darren's threads, I don't think qt would have helped. The clue's are there.

Not got time to read back but I guess it will be impulse buying, over crowding etc etc
But Kev if you eradicate parasites then you eradicate parasites. You have a clean system and then yes you can get bacteria problems and nitrogen problems but parasites dont just magically appear.
hehehehehe. Never mind James. :D Yep, the clues are in the postings!

No Joke Kev, it shows up the frail network we live in. The outbreak may have been hyped up but it was not controlled. If there is a new makup of the flu virus that is more deadly then we need to have better quaranteen measures.
Imagine if it was more deadly and spread to places like the sudan. Due to bad decision making! Brushing under the carpet.

Not joking James. It was hyped up nonsense. 5 years ago the Goverment estimated that over 100,000 people in this country would die of bird flue. Not 1 death occured. ;)
We have been here before. We get flue every year. There are vulnerable groups affected by any type of flue. Piggy flue is not really any different.

ok just found one! Spotted a few spots then they disappeared thought everything was ok!
WRONG
The parasite was completing its cycle and has now come back x fold. And the next time xxfold.
You should have taken measures there and then.
Personally the fish should have been put into quaranteen and the outbreak could have been controlled if caught in time. Then the snake oils could have been used in a controlled environment.
On the same post the LFS seems to get a bit of bad press, but was the fish in question eating? was it in good health? How long was it settled in for? Was it a fish that could be housed with your tank mates? Was the environment you were putting the fish into adequate?
Now I think its to easy to point the finger! My thoughts maybe but they are my thoughts.

I hope you are right! Was there not something in the bible? :D
The clues are all there James. Anyway, I will rest up on this one, I don't have my text books in front of me. We seemed to have highjacked the thread. My apologies to you Darren.

Kev share the clues, that is what this board is for!
I will move all the post bar the original one to a new thread,
Look James. I am not going back through it right now having read all the threads once. But what comes to mind is a collection of very aggresive fish in a relatively small environment, probably stocked up quite quickly. Losses have occured on the way. There was a need to put a partition in there to keep the fish apart to prevent the aggression. And more................all leading to a very stressful environment.
Stop being so competitive mate. I accept you are the expert, not me! :D
I am sure you have your text book guide to disease open to respond!;)

No mate, I google :D
I am certainly no expert. I am a master of none.
But I like to think I have got wiser with age. :D
Kev I agree what you have writtten and it is environment and habitat that you have questioned and I totally agree.
Actually, the more I read some of the posts, I get increasingly agitated.
Loads of death - an eel ripping the stomach out of another fish. Moray in bucket. Fish in bucket with bits hanging out. Wants to get rid of moray, and asks for collection - but one way or the other the eel will not be here tomorrow. I can only assume that the eel would be "terminated" if not collected. And loads more...................
Don't normally post like this, but this is a catologue of errors and absolute cruelty. Forget the quarantine tank, it won't help with the bits hanging out of the fishes guts.
Sorry, but its a disgrace.
