yep, heard about this on a certain deltec skimmer (not sure what model) I believe you can obtain a free silencer kit from deltec but hopefully someone will give you exact details.

Hi
MCE600 has history of noise.
IIRC "Tangman" e-mailed Delec recently regarding his MCE600.
Maybe PM "Tangman" and ask him for Deltec's contact details.

I think their is a Deltec agent from Cumbria who is more than helpful but do not recall his name.

Callum, these things take time to bed in.
Give it a few days to settle down - see if it gets any quieter, then worry about getting the foam set up etc.
Can you pinpoint where the noise is coming from?

iam pretty sure it is coming from the pump
but the annoying thing is that my tank is in the living room and all you can hear is a buzzing noise in your ear. so i cant leave it on.
i sent an email to stuart at deltec hopefully he will recommend the silence kit.
otherwise i will have to return it and save up more and get the mce 600

can you not put some foam around the pump to see if that cures it.
The usual cause of such noise is the pump vibrating on the side of the skimmer. After time the pump will bed in and stop vibrating.
Silenceing kit comes with 2 rubber strips for that exact purpose. it also comes with 2 new rubber caps for the impellor, so it will probably cure the noise.

i think u may be right mr tee
listening to the noise it sounds like its vibrating against something.
do u think i could put a few rubber bands around the pumps sides to reduce the noise?

yeah good idea, couple of thick ones should dull it out a bit.

Hi Callum. The mce 600 has rubber strips slotted into the pump flats so as to stop it vibrating on the casing. Have you had the pump out of the case at all, if so try and see if it is a tight fit when it goes back in . If it is loose it wil vibrate and make a right racket. With this being a new unit i would have expected it to run silent from day one, has it got air locked at all as this will make it rattle try blowing hard down the air intake tube and see if that makes any difference HTH. Eric PS If this all fails email Deltec at. info@deltec.com and address it to Stuart Bertram

hello i have the mce 500 and after a period of time the noise became so unbearable i couldnt hear tv i spoke to stuart bertram at deltec who sent me i new shaft and special silicone rubber bearings that the shaft is seated in that cured the problem .
but this week i have had a problem with the skimmer under performing and
bubbles not reaching the cup after messing about with it stripping it down
trying this and that i decided to give stuart a call he told me that there is a flap in the outlet of the aquabee pumps that should move from side to side depending on which direction the pumps start up as they can start up either direction (something else i didnt know) he told me that if the flap was stuck in one direction then the pump is only 50 % efficient if the pump starts in the direction where the flap is stuck . i stripped the pump down again and true enough the flap was stuck i eased it off and put it back together and bingo as good as new
stuart bertram is a top man to speak to so helpful he has saved me a lot of money just as i was going to spend yet more on a new skimmer

He he still breaking in mate, give it a week and the really smelly stuff will start to appear.
I think that the customer service from Deltec is second to none, and plays a big part in buying their stuff.

Here here, that's the main reason we've always had Deltec skimmers and probably always will.
Really glad you got it sorted Callum, you won't be disappointed with this skimmer I can guarantee.
