well........is it possible to keep coldwater crabs?
my dad does sea fishing and he uses peeler crabs for his bait
when he recieves the crabs there all alive and i was wondering if it would be easy to keep a few in a smallish tank and even possibly breed them.
i would set the tank up as half water and half sand with rocks etc.
thing is woudl the water get too warm for them as they are coldwater crabs ?
thanks

hhmmmm, would have thought it would be ok as they are used to living in rockpools were the water would be warmer just a simple set up. maybe lit by led's to reduce heat. give it a go, won't cost you anything.

Never tried our native species myself, but have a couple of cutomers who did. General feeling is that a chiller is required, bUT with just crabs that may not be such a problem.
Let us know how you get on.;)

its only a small tank at the moment but if it all goes well i have a spare 3foot tank that is waiting to be used
the lighitn is only a T8. i will keep them off as much as possible as the heat will soon add up maybe its worth getitng some cheap LEDs to use as lights . i will get a FTS later :)

Nice one james.... How big are the crabs?? Em has a small tank about 12"x12"x10" high.... You can have it if you want??? If your 3footer is the tank you bought off me you wont be able to use it as it has had copper in it. It was my QT....
