Yes, I'm no expert on fish illness but i would say it's for the best.
Pop him in the QT tank
Sounds like an infection of some sort
I hope he pulls through mate
to late now he has gone amongst the rock, if he is still about in the morning he will be in QT2 or my QT3 frag tank(no frags at the mo)

Could another fish have taken a nip at him?
What are the other inhabitants of the tank?
no i dont think so , but you never no, i have a sailfin, yellow, powderbrown, orangeshoulder, regal , pair of clowns , few blue damsels, blue cheek, bubble nem, could he have been stung by the nem?
queen angel is in a different tank.
Looks like some sort of infection, have you had the fish long?
iv had him for about a month, he was in QT for 2 weeks and main tank for 2 weeks, may be i should of kept him in QT longer, its been 48hours now and iv not seen him.
No, two weeks was long enough. I think that if all the fish in your tank were ok, then the tang must have knocked himself or another tang has cut him which has led to an infection. Sadly, I think you may lose this fish :( If you find his remains you must remove it ASAP and then keep an eye on the rest of your stock, then be ready to treat them accordingly.
