Hi all,

I have this curious algae growing in the tank. It's fairly slow growing, branching and is diiffrently coloured depending on whether you view it from the top or straight on. Here a coupe of pic of the same clump but from different angles.

From the side

Any idea what this is?

Also I have some short, slow growing, small green leafed algae that smells a bit like onions, sorry there none close enough to the sode of the tank to get a good pic, an idea about that?

Cheers,
Campbell

No idea about an identification, But I think it looks good and easy to remove if need be.

I would leave it as is!

Yeah, it does kind of look good.

It is quite brittle, weakly anchored and so is easily removed in clumps but it traps quite a bit of detritus. No worries though it's easily blown out and as long as it's out competing Hair Algae I am all for it.

I like it, very pretty :D

I've seen pictures of a similar algae before and iirc someone said it was a branching form of coralline. Not the best pictures but you may be able to id it from this WetWebMedia article (http://www.wetwebmedia.com/redalgae.htm).
