Hi you should have zero Ammonia and zero Nitrite any readings of these will kill fish and not do corals any good. By the size of your tank you have far to much stocked with fish, although they are maybe small they will grow large and when fully grown will want a 500 gallon plus tank. I suggest you take all your fish and corals Anemomes back to your LFS. If you dont you are going to lose all the others through Ammonia poisoning. Who advised you to stock all these fish in a tank of that size, if it was your fish shop you need to change and go somewhere else. How many and what fish have you lost upto now. HTH Twiggy:icon_razz:

what filtration have you got in any live rock.the first thing to do is remove all the fish out to a quarentine tank or taken down to your local lfs till you get the tank sorted out,i am surprised that any fish have survived with such high readings.you have to many fish in the tank this is probally reason you have high ammonia, nitrite, nitrate etc.i would rehome the emperor angel, blue spotted unicorn &the nem as they are to big for your size tank also the two tangs would need a bigger tank as they grow bigger.i would strip the whole tank down & restart again with fresh salt water.derek

hi firstly i'd like to say all everybody is telling you is advise to help,so dont think they are getting at you,you say you had a flood and lost almost all water but for 4 inch, where did you get the water from to refill,as it can take weeks to cycle a tank.

well if it was me and i found that out I'd be going Mental with the shop and it could be down to them you lost all you have,The first think I would do is buy a brand new ro unit, and salt, and make your own water.
what salt would u go for
red sea / aqua one /seachem

I have used all 3 and didnt find much difference,Im currently using seachem, which ever you can easily source,ps wouldn't advise getting from that same shop as water as it might b table salt.
have u used nitro bac before

i would agree losing all your water could have contributed to causing this problem.definately stay clear of the lfs you got your water from they are a disgrace,if you are going to upgrade do it as soon as possible the bigger the tank the more stable they are.most of the salts are quite good i use instant ocean salt but am trying another couple of cheaper brands to see what they are like.derek

Hi forget using quick fix methods as they dont usually work, the way to good water quality is good regular water changes and keep your feeding and stocking levels right. You need to have 1 inch of fully grown fish for every 6 gallons of water you have in your tank. So your tank of 50 gallons should have no more tha 8 inch of fish in it, you have about 60 inch of fish in with the tangs which is far to much, the unicorn will grow to 25 inch and the others will reach 8 to 12 inch long.
