I'm not about to do a BSc in Marine Biology just yet, but I wouldn't mind doing some serious academic reading.

I know a few of you guys have have done BSc, from various places.
Could you possibly post a list of the reading materials, so I can dip my toe in?

Cheers

I think it was a while ago Chris did his degree so the books he used may not be used now. If you know the Unis/degrees you are looking at then give their admissions a ring, they will give you a list of relevant books. Hth Also if you have a uni near you that has a marine biology course then call into the campus bookshop-they'll be able to tell you every book used on the course and may have 2nd user copies available. Some of my degree books were £50-60 each new so it could be expensive for you.

Thanks for the replies.

Would it be possible to let me know the books you have / used, and where you did your degree? (Do you have one?)

Cheers

I can but my degree is in Psychology, from Leeds (the real one:p) so books would be a bit pointless. You are however quite welcome to borrow any you want if you change direction;):D

I did plenty of marine biology modules for my BSc in Biology and I can tell you they all bored me half to death!!!!

Worst degree choice ever. 40 hours a week in Uni and virtually zero (that pays a wage that you could survive on that well these days)job opportunities at the end of it. I should have done a degree like philosophy, like a few of my mates did. Four hours a week in Uni and most had full time jobs just to pass the time and pay for their parties! ;-)

The best thing to do would be to contact a local uni that runs a marine biology degree and ask for their book list. See if you can join their Uni library and just borrow a few from there. Most, if not all will be on the shelves apart from about two weeks before exam times when all the students will try and sober up and do some last minute revision, which IME normally ended up in anything else, other than revision!...but they do at least take some books to try lol
