Have started to get patches of green hair algae in my tank and it seems to be spreading. I remember seeing a guy's tank once and his live rock was completely covered in it so I don't want to end up like that! How do I get rid? There is another reddish algae that is spreading too (not cyno!)- it's like the green hair algae but a bit more 'wooly'- I wondered if it's a type of hair algae too.
I have ensured good flow in the tank, phosphate is >0.01 PPM, nitrates around 30PPM, steady 8.1 PH, I have recently put an ioniser on my RO unit to get TDS down to 0.
Can anyone offer any advice of how to get rid please? I could be wrong but aren't sea cucumbers good for munching on this?
Thanks.

Hi how long do you have lights on for, and what sort are they tubes or Halides. Are they new or are they getting on if so may need changing. Algae is fed by 2 things nutrients and light. Some folk turn the lights off for a week and black the tank out so no sunlight gets in to get rid of the algaes. Twiggy:D:D
