how much are corals

well in my LFS they have corals iam really only intrested in softies because they are less demanding.
so i was wondering what are the prices for your corals like

all the softies around me tend to be a round the £20.00 area some are an alright size.
i saw green star polyps for £21 to me that sounds quite expensive as there werent that many.

what are the prices like 4 u?

Hi Callum. I think most LFS are charging different prices because of where they are in the country. Some shops around me charge up to £60 for a large softie but they are usually around £25 to £30. If you find them a little dear for you why not buy some softie frags as they are reasonable and grow quite quick in good water. I believe James i starting doing frags in the near future so why not have a word with him. Or ask at your LFS if they do them, and also keep your eyes peeled for them on here near you. HTH. Eric

Callum, Best thing I have found is to save quite a bit of money, then take a trip to a really decent LFS and spend it on things that you cannot get locally.

I vote with my wallet, and if they are too expensive then I'm Sorry, but I will shop around.

I like to watch the corals grow so do not buy large colonies of corals. As Eric has said frags are cheap in comparison, why not see if you can pick any up from some more local reefers.

If you were closer I would be extremely happy to let you have a load of green star polyps on some rocks, just to get rid of the things. There must be people like that where you live?

Callum, if you want some really nice metallic green star polyps and can wait till the spring, once the weather is a bit warmer, I'll send you a frag or two gratis. I have tonnes of the stuff and always end up throwing some away. I'd be glad to pass it on to a reefer in need ;)

I say at a summer club meet we cobble together some frags like Eric suggested and get them sent down to you.

I'll chuck summats in the box for you.

iam going to madienhead aquatics this weekend to get my clowns and possibly a softie if there is anything i like.

me too mate luckly my local madienhead aquatics has a very large marine system so there is always loads of fish.

Make sure you have a good look at em in the shop. Its horrible to get them home and notice something wrong with them you hadn't noticed before.

Hi Callum as Mr Tee says have a good look at them while in the shop, my tip is when they bag them up ask to look at them when in the bag and you can hold them up and have a good look. HTH. Eric
