as i said in a previous post i was forced into rescaping my tank, i had put this off for about 3 weeks. i carried out the job on tuesday.
well tuesday evening i had not seen any of my shoal of 6 chromis, wednesday morning i found a yellow tang and 2 chromis dead, still no sign of the other chromis or a false gramma,
thursday still no sign of the chromis or gramma,
thursday night and now no sign of my male sebea clown,
friday is here and still no sign of the above fish, wednesday morning i carried out a 40gallon water change since then my readings have been;
sg 1.025
temp 76.1f
ph 8.2
ammonia <0.25
nitrite 0
nitrate 25
all tests carried out with new salifert test kits(hence the ammonia reading)
all corals(softies)looking well fully expanded other fish look/feeding well

Did the water go very cloudy?

Could have crashed O2 levels killing the fish.

no not really actually a lot less than i had expected, my main concern is that i lost the male clown yesterday with all readings seeminly ok.

another worry is i cant find the fish dead or alive

notice you have a sand bed in the tank, could it be hydrogen sulphide released into the tank after disturbing the sand?

i did think that myself, but my concern is the clown disappearing yesterday i would have thought he would have gone with the others.

lets just hope whatever has caused the problem has calmed down and i dont lose anything else

how about sticking in a polyfilter and carbon, just in case it is a water issue.

Hi as its a gas it will soon go but you could like i did end up with whitespot through stressing the fish. My Tangs came out with WS but it cleared up after a week or so. Try putting an air stone in for a day or so to help disperse it if the rest of the fish are showing signs of being ill. Twiggy
