Ok, just got hold of an Arcadia 4 bulb T5 luminaire as I want to keep a couple of LPS. Eric (Tangman) recommended D&D aqua blues to replace my old bulbs on my old lighting setup (now defunkt), would these be a good choice for my new setup to keep a couple of LPS corals? I was just gonna get 3 of the aqua blues, and one actinic plus... any thoughts?
Chris.
Great choice , no worries there m8 :)

yep sounds like a good choice. i've heard the D&D tubes give off a nice crisp white/bluey light. Avoid arcadia's unless you like a pinky hue to your tank.

Looks like I'm learning something then... Chris when you getting those LPS's in? Want one of those fluro green ones that you have in your display tank, and had in the big tank - think it's a candy cane isn't it? Also, what sort of prices would I be looking at?
Cheers, Chris.

Another thumbs up for the Deltec tubes. Before I switched to halides I used these and thought they gave out a great colour.
Has anyone tried T6 for LPS?

What are T6?
T6 are the next step up from T8 before T5, they are 11,000 k and thet fit into a T8 starter.

will the 36w 2x T5 lights which come as standard in the D&D 24 be ok for Torch's and hammers?
Thanks.

Yes, because the tank is fairly shallow, especially so if you put the coral high on the rockwork. You can also squeeze another bulb in the hood if you feel its not enough but my hammer is doing fine with the standard kit and its on the bottom.

Thats good...as i really like torch's...do Torch's, Hammers need feeding i.e. dosing of supliments in to tank?

if you hand feed them they'll grow a bit quicker. they dont really need it to survive though.

same food as the fish. meaty stuff like mysis, brine, cyclopeze etc.. I give the torch, hammer, frogspawn a squirt with the turkey baster every night whilst i'm feeding my sun coral.

when feeding the Torch does the food get caught in the coral and then the coral will take the food in to its mouth? or do you have to point the food directly in to the mouth or wherever it intakes the food?

yeah I just blast some food near the torch and it catches some on it's nematocysts where the coloured parts are on the polyps and pulls it to it's mouth.

They can also feed off the light, from the photosynthetic algae they have in them.
