Which brand of Carbon?

Just looked now and I'm out :mad:.

The last lot was Kent, but anyone recommend any other brands and where I can get some from? Don't finish work till 5pm so going to be a bit stuck until the weekend?

Ive got some you can have, its not branded but I've used this stuff for years with no problems, I you want I can drop it off on my way to work tomorrow night.

carbon can be recharged in the mic. done it loads of times. apparently it's how they make carbon "activated". works better than when new. can only be done about 3 or 4 times tho'. will find a thread tomorrow night.

right instrucions for recharging carbon. rinse carbon well in ro, and leave to soak overnight. rinse in more ro and leave to dry for a few mins. when carbon is still damp, put it into a shallow pyrex dish. i put the microwave on kitchen chair in the back yard, it can get a little smokey, i'm just over cautious tho'. put carbon in mic' (850w), put microwave on full power for fifteen mins, and stir half way through. carbon and pyrex bowl will be very hot so be careful and leave to cool for several hours. one final rinse in ro, job done.

microwaving may produce "arcing", sparks and even smoke at the start. don't panic. the more you do it the more you'll get used to it. i do my recharging with rowacarbon.

disclaimer - if you recharge your carbon and knack the microwave or burn your house down i will not cover costs, buy you a new microwave, or attempt to calm your screaming, hysterical missus down. your all big boys and girls and are capable of making your own decisions, i know mrs cl0wn said so.

have updated instructions it's 15 mins not ten. and a couple of extra ro rinses. they reckon it can get maximum 75% of it's origional potential and can be done 3 or 4 times. HTH.

really not that risky, i just do it outside 'cos it does produce a bit of smoke / steam.

very basically, it absorbs impurities and some poisons from the water. it can also remove medications etc.

Indeed, smoke / steam is a no no to the misses, might give it a wiz when shes out! :D

I tried some KZ carbon in my micro at the weeked, sparks where shooting about so had to stop the mirco :eek:.

Next time think i might try it in the works micro, of course when no ones about lol :cool:.
