View Full Version : Boxfish Id Needed ???

Picked up 2 Boxfish from a very good supplier in Crews Hill today, Tanks were incredibly clean but stock slightly expensive but worth it for the quality. Both fish were feeding straight out of the bags, Infact they both made a beeline for the algae strips i had just put in for the others, Quite a large lump went in about 10 minutes !!!
I'm trying to indentify the Black spotted Boxfish in the video below, I've had many Boxfish but never seen one like this ??? Anybody know its name ???

Is it the yellow boxfish (Ostracion cubicus)?

No mate, I've got one of those, This bloke is silvery white with black dots and eats like a horse !!!, I've only had him 6hrs and he hasn't stopped eating yet !!!

I haven't a clue then sorry-could it be a colour variant (just a guess), inbred i think some call them!!!;):cool::D

Yeah i could well be a colour varient of Cubicus but i don't think so, The spots on Cubicus are very defined but this guys spots are sort of wishy washy and not all over the body ???
